Living with a small backyard and a Doberman means we need to walk and let him run outside of the house. Fortunately we live in an area where I can let him off leash and run without being at a dog park. If that is not available I use a flexi and let him roam and explore. We average about 3-4miles a day and I try to reinforce training every chance I get. A tired dog both mentally and physically is a happy dog! #bruceofrubydoobydo #brucethedoberman #doberman #dobermann #rubydooby_do #dogsofinstagra

Blanket and flank sucking is part of the doberman CCD trait. most of the time it’s harmless especially if they don’t become obsessed with it. Ruby was a blanket sucker as well. Bruce likes to chew them though so he has to be supervised. He knows as soon as he starts chewing it, the blanket will get taken away, so what he does to prevent that it is he just goes back to sucking on his blanket instead. So he can keep his blanky.#brucethedoberman #doberman #dobermann #rubydooby_do #dogsofinstagram #

Dobermans are getting a lot of recognition right now, especially with Penny winning Best in Show and that’s amazing. But I also want people to understand that this breed is not for everyone. How do I know? Just look at shelters and rescues and see how many Dobermans there are between 9 months and 3 years old. These dogs are work. They need structure, discipline, and consistent training. Without it, they’ll run your house and turn that energy into destruction. Amazing breed, but only for the righ

Bruce just had his yearly Holter and Echo 🩺 Fortunately everything looks great! I hate these tests and it’s always a stressful time but, if you own a Doberman, please don’t skip this. DCM can show no signs until it’s too late, yearly testing can save their life. ❤️ #doberman #dobermann #dcmawareness #bruceofrubydoobydo | Rubydoobydo

Teaching your dog how to take a selfie with you. Start simple: using treats, lure them up on your shoulder and use a marker word like up or selfie. Build their focus by putting the treat by the camera and reward engagement when they focus on the camera. Bruce didn’t just learn to pose, he learned to want to be in the shot. 🐾📸 Keep sessions short, keep it fun, and reward with any achievements. #bruceofrubydoobydo #brucethedoberman #doberman #dobermann #rubydooby_do #dogsofinstagram #showdogs #D

What is it like having a Doberman? having a high energy working dog is more than just providing physical exercise. Mental exercise is just as important and is actually more exhausting to them. we work daily on item recognition, training commands and scent work. a tired dog is a happy dog. #bruceofrubydoobydo #brucethedoberman #doberman #dobermann #rubydooby_do #dogsofinstagram #showdogs | Rubydoobydo

I’m assuming you didn’t watch the video because I am talking about getting dogs from reputable/ethical breeders, not her getting a Doberman. This page is about Dobermans and I talk about the importance of ethical breeders. Backyard Doberman breeders are greedy and don’t can about the breed, they only care about money. Because of that, they are destroying the health and temperament of this breed. I will call out any breeder that I come across to help educate people and help them avoid breeders li

Dobermans are known for their strong protective instincts, and that’s especially clear in unfamiliar environments. When we’re camping, Bruce stays on high alert and tuned in to every sound and movement. It’s part of what makes them such reliable guardians: they’re always assessing and always aware of their surroundings.#bruceofrubydoobydo #brucethedoberman #doberman #dobermann #rubydooby_do #dogsofinstagram #showdogs #campingwithdogs #airstreamdogs | Rubydoobydo

A structured walk doesn’t mean no fun, it just means there’s a purpose! Bruce still gets to explore, but he’s not stopping to sniff or mark every single thing he sees. It keeps his mind focused and makes our outings, whether on walks or in public, so much smoother and enjoyable #bruceofrubydoobydo #brucethedoberman #doberman #dobermann #rubydooby_do | Rubydoobydo

Backyard breeders are all about money and they don’t care about the well-being of the dog. Education on spotting them is our first step on eliminating them. Only get dogs from ethical breeders or shelters or rescues that is it. Stay tuned for part two or talk about ethical breeders. #bruceofrubydoobydo #brucethedoberman #doberman #dobermann #rubydooby_do | Rubydoobydo

Dog parks can be risky and aren’t a requirement for socializing a dog. True socialization is thoughtful, gradual and about helping your dog feel safe and confident in the world. Not being overwhelmed, overstimulated, or forced into interactions. Socialization is about learning how to coexist, not to play or say “hi” to every dog. A well-socialized dog can calmly observe, walk past, or share space with other dogs without becoming overly excited, fearful, or aggressive. It takes time and effort bu

In my opinion, if they were really concerned about the dogs going to a proper home... Don't you think they would vet the people before they entered the raffle, not after they got their money?? Just saying 🤷 | Rubydoobydo

This post is not meant to diminish the incredible value of adoption and fostering animals. Those efforts save countless lives and remain vital. Rather, this is aimed at preventing purebred dogs from ending up in shelters and rescues in the first place. If you're considering adding a purebred dog to your family, please do your homework and seek out reputable breeders. Ethical breeders are deeply committed to the health and well-being of their dogs. They don't just sell puppies, they educate poten

please please do your research. dogs like this or "specialty breeds" are not for everyone. reputable and preservation breeders do everything they can to make sure their dogs go into the right household. do your research and don't get a dog you can't handle because the last thing we need is more dogs in a shelter or rescue. #bruceofrubydoobydo #brucethedoberman #doberman #dobermann #rubydooby_do #dogsofinstagram #showdogs | Rubydoobydo

My thoughts on Simone Biles new Doberman: This isn’t about criticism, it’s about education. Dobermans are an incredible but serious breed, and where they come from matters. Backyard breeding puts health, temperament, and longevity at risk, especially in a breed already battling genetic disease. If you’re considering a Doberman, please do your research. Start with dpca.org, ask breeders for OFA results, full health testing, and longevity in their lines. Not every dog needs to be in the show ring,
