Scotland, roared on by their Tartan Army of traveling fans, savored their first World Cup win in 36 years on Saturday (June 13) when they edged past Haiti 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike by John McGinn.

Their son, Callan, first started kicking a ball with Annan Athletic - currently in Scottish League 2 - at their Galabank ground. Since the family moved to New Zealand when he was just seven, he has risen through the ranks and is now in the squad for his new homeland at the World Cup.

The U.S. made the perfect start to their World Cup on Friday night, strolling to a 4-1 victory over Paraguay thanks to a brace from Folarin Balogun, an own goal by Damián Bobadilla and a terrific strike from Giovanni Reyna.
