SEATTLE (AP) — U.S. President Donald Trump intervened on behalf of star U.S. forward Folarin Balogun, whose red-card suspension was lifted in a decision that allows him to play in a World Cup match against Belgium on Monday.

President Trump called FIFA President Gianni Infantino to urge a review of Folarin Balogun's red card before the US star's suspension was reversed.

The United States will have star striker Folarin Balogun available after all for Monday’s FIFA Men's World Cup matchup with Belgium.

Team USA won its game on Wednesday night, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. It marks only the second time that the team has won in a knockout stage match in the team's history at the World Cup.

Folarin Balogun’s one-game ban has been suspended by FIFA, allowing the forward to play in the United States’ World Cup round of 16 game against Belgium on Monday.

Now that Folarin Balogun has had his red card suspended, the United States enter their World Cup Round of 16 matchup with Belgium with their best player in tow. The United States will be looking to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2002.
